Sometimes we reflect encouragement, sometimes challenge, sometimes tough love, and at other times simply a safe harbor where the other can rest a while. People make much more impact on each other than any inanimate teaching guide. In many ways, human beings are perverse creatures. Some good behaviors – like apologizing – may give us bad feelings. Likewise some very bad behaviors – like telling someone off – may make us feel very good indeed. That’s why we can’t allow our feelings to dictate our behavior. Of course it’s important to identify our feelings. Feelings tell us a great many things. To create what you want, you have to trust the Power within you. We can use the Power, or Life Force, to create anything that we want in our lives. Even if we choose from ignorance, it doesn’t matter. It will support us in our ignorance until we learn from it. The effect will always be equal to the cause. If we’re in a ditch, it means that the Power is supporting us in being in a ditch.

The best news of all is that same Power is within you, and the more open, responsive and receptive you are to this Power the more fulfilling and magnificent your life will be. If this is true, then how does the Power work? You and I are indirect users of the power. Feelings are habits, they wind around old behaviors like iron filings around a magnet. Anything we do often enough we will come to feel comfortable doing. The worrier is comfortable worrying; the workaholic, working; and the liar, laying. But no matter how comfortable we feel, it doesn’t necessarily follow that these behaviors will lead to a full spiritual life based on positive self-esteem. It’s important to know how we feel. But it’s even more important to know that our feelings have memory but no conscience.
Have patience for more planners as I’m not done yet. Here are some more free printable planners for other activities. Self esteem is based on our self image. But unlike everyone else, our self-image is practically nonexistent; when we look in a mirror, we see others. Somehow, somewhere, we came to believe that our needs weren’t important or that normal self-interest was a sin. So we learned to justify our existence by rendering service. Because “they” came first, we took second best or nothing at all, gave beyond our limits, and exhausted ourselves. Perhaps we told ourselves that it was “God’s will” that we serve and suffer. Now, if you wanted to bring in more power, what would you do? You would have to create less resistance, and you would have to change the wiring to accommodate the additional flow of power. When we create on the conscious level, we are able to make choices. When we create on the unconscious level we cannot make choices. We often hear about how we have the “power of choice”, but that is not entirely accurate. It is misleading to say someone chooses a dysfunctional relationship, money problems, or any other negative situation in his or her life. Most of the time we are operating in the “default mode” which is based on our past conditioning.
The person who changes the bulbs in streetlights provides protection to everyone. The trash hauler’s work prevents epidemics of disease. The person who cooks dinner for a child is making no less a contribution than the famous chef who cooks dinner for a roomful of strangers. All of us are entitled to be proud of who we are and what we do. And we are obliged to honor our own contribution if we want to feel good about ourselves. Study your dissatisfaction very carefully, because it will tell you something about yourself. Your life is an ever-changing canvas.
